Horizon Signal Portable Traffic Signal System Light Put to the Test by Discovery Channel’s Own Myth Busters!
When MythBusters Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage wanted to test a myth about fuel consumption, they decided to create a fixed driving course. They wanted to simulate neighborhood driving conditions to see if stressed out drivers burn more fuel than relaxed drivers.
The Myth Busters production crew needed a reliable portable traffic signal which could be quickly set up and easily controlled with a hand held remote control actuator. They also set up a fuel pump to measure consumption.
The Horizon Signal SQ2 Portable Traffic Signal was used to successfully set up the stressful driving conditions. The shoot was filmed in two days, and during that time, Jamie and Adam drove a fixed course where different stimuli were used to trigger stress.
“I felt sorry for our poor hosts” said Coordinating Producer, Linda Wolkovitch. “We really aggravated them to try to simulate stressful conditions. I was the slow cross walker.”
